NEAC East Award Winners Announced; Vanidestine Earns 1st Team Honors
Gansevoort, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division award winners were recently announced based on a vote by league coaches, featuring two Husson seniors on the first and second teams. Left fielder Kyle Vanidestine (Bangor, Maine) earned the first team distinction, while ace pitcher Nate Adams (Frankfort, Maine) was named to the second team.

Eagles Fall To Spartans In NAC Tournament
Castleton, Vt. – Castleton State College starting pitcher Tyler Erickson (Naugatuck, Conn.) pitched a complete-game four-hitter and senior classmate Pete Wagner (Brattleboro, Vt.) drove in three runs to lead Castleton to a 10-0 win over Husson University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Baseball Tournament elimination game Saturday morning at Spartan Field.

Castleton, Vt. – Thomas put four runs on the board in the second inning on the way to a 6-0 victory over Husson on Friday afternoon in each teams’ first game of the North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division Tournament hosted by Castleton at Spartan Field.

Husson Out-Hits Huskies in Gorham
Gorham, Maine - Junior Shawn Smith (Winterport, Maine) hit his second home run of the game, a three-run shot, in the eighth inning to snap a 10-10 tie and the Husson University Eagles went on to defeat the University of Southern Maine Huskies 14-10 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at the USM Baseball Stadium. The win was the fifth straight for the Eagles, and improved their record to 19-16 overall. The Huskies dropped their second straight to slip to 16-16 overall.

Husson Baseball Sweeps Series with Senior Day Win over Hornets
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball team continued their success against the visiting Hornets of Lyndon State, earning a 13-4 win on senior day at the Winkin Complex. Game two of the double header - and the fourth of the Eagles-Hornets series - was called due to weather. Husson completed the season sweep to move to 18-17 on the year and sit in third place in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division with a record of 14-8. The Hornets conclude their 2012 slate with the losses and fall to 5-26 overall and 3-20 in the conference.

Eagles Sweep Day One Double Header Against Hornets
Bangor, ME – The Husson University baseball team swept the first of two double headers this weekend against the Hornets of Lyndon State College, 12-0 and 8-2 in North East Atlantic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday from the Harold Alfond Diamond at the John W. Winkin Sports Complex in Bangor, Maine. With the wins, the Eagles improve 17-16 (13-8 NEAC) while the Hornets fall to a 5-25 (3-19 NEAC) record.

Husson Takes Split With Thomas after Extra Innings Thriller
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball rallied from behind in the second game of a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division double header to earn the split against the visiting Terriers of Thomas College at the Winkin Complex Thursday night. The Eagles' record remains just under .500 at 15-16 while moving to 11-8 in conference, while Thomas loses just their third NEAC East game of the season (17-3) and sit at 22-11 overall.

Husson Earns Non-Conference Victory at Bowdoin
Brunswick, Maine - The Husson University baseball team used a four-run eighth inning to pull away from Bowdoin in a 7-4 win at Pickard Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles snap a three-game losing streak and move to 14-15 this season. Bowdoin has dropped its last three outings and falls to 15-11 on the year.

Husson Baseball Drops Saturday Double Header at Castleton
Castleton, VT – Husson University baseball won just one of four in a weekend series with Castleton State, gropping a pair on Saturday in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division action at Spartan Field. Tyler Erickson (Naugatuck, Conn.) earned a complete-game win as Castleton downed Husson 11-6 in the opener, and Peter Wagner (Brattleboro, Vt.) singled home the winning run as the Spartans walked off with win in the nightcap, 5-4. Husson falls to 13-15, and 10-7 in the NEAC East, while Castleton improves to 20-10 overall and 15-1 in conference play.

Eagles Split First of Two Double-Headers with Castleton State
Castleton, VT – Castleton State College and Husson University split a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division doubleheader at Spartan Field Friday. The defending conference champion Eagles received seven strong innings from starter Nate Adams (Frankfort, Maine) and Jake Arthers (Belfast, Maine) went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Eagles to a 4-1 win in the opener, while the 2010 champion Spartans used a two-hit shutout from Adam Greenlese (Shokan, N.Y.) to take the nightcap 8-0.

Husson Splits With Beavers
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball team split a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division contests with the visiting Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington in a mostly-cloudy day at the Winkin Complex. UMF won the first game by a score of 4-2 before Husson came back to win game-two 9-8. After the two games, the Eagles end a six game losing streak and currently sit at 8-11 (5-3 NEAC) on the season. The Beavers leave Bangor with a record of 3-9 and are an even 2-2 in conference.

Husson Baseball Gives Strong Showing Against Maine
Orono, ME - The Husson University baseball team made the short trip up to Orono to take on NCAA Division I opponent, the Black Bears of the University of Maine. Maine defeated the Eagles 7-2 on Wednesday night in what was the home opener at the Mahaney Diamond. With the win, Maine improves to 12-14 on the year, while Husson is currently on a five game skid, falling to 7-10. Despite the loss, the Eagles have little to hang their heads about, holding the Black Bears to just four hits on the day.

Waterville, ME - The Husson University baseball team dropped a pair of North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division contests to the host Terriers of Thomas College on Tuesday. The Eagles fell by scores of 7-1 and 2-1 in the double header and currently sit at 7-9 on the season with a conference record of 4-2. Thomas improves to 10-9 (5-1 NEAC) with the victories.

Eagles Bunked by Bobcats in Shootout
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball team plated 15 runs in the game, but on this day, that offensive outpouring was not enough to better the Bobcats of Bates College who came in to Bangor and scored 20 in a shootout at the Winkin Complex. The Eagles fall to 7-7 (4-0 NEAC) with the loss, while Bates improves to 11-4 (0-0 NESCAC) on the year.

Husson Completes the Sweep in 4 Game Series with NEC
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball team started their North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) season with four-straight wins over East Division rival New England College. The Eagles won game one by a score of 2-0 over the visiting Pilgrims, and broke things open when the weather subsided in game two, taking home an 11-0 victory to complete the sweep. After a successful weekend, Husson's record improves to 7-6 as they boast a six-game winning streak since their return from Florida. The Eagles boast a 4-0 record in the NEAC. With the string of losses, NEC falls to 6-5 on the year, while opening their conference season 0-4.

Winkin Sports Complex in Bangor, ME. With the wins, the Eagles improve their season record to 5-6 (2-0 NEAC) while the Pilgrims fall to 6-3 (0-2 NEAC).

Bridgewater, MA - The Husson University baseball team swept a pair of games at Bridgewater Sate University in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Park in Bridgewater, MA. Husson blanked the Bears in the opener, 3-0, and the Eagles completed the sweep with a 5-1 victory in game two.

Husson Baseball Set for Southern Swing
Bangor, ME - The winter of 2011-12 has been mild for much of Maine, and for the Husson baseball team this has equated to more opportunities outside on the Alfond Diamond at the Winkin Sports Complex so far this year. While most teams in the northeast have not been able to get out onto a field yet, the Husson baseball team as been practicing on the diamond for the past three weeks. This has provided the Eagles with some early live looks that they have not experienced in recent years.

Reigning NEAC Champs Husson Baseball Shares Top Spot in East Division Preseason Poll
Whittingham, VT - The Husson University and Castleton State College baseball teams finished in a virtual deadlock as the top team in a preseason poll of the North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Coaches. Both teams finished with 66 total points in the poll, while Husson came out with four first-place votes to three for Castleton.

Eagles Baseball Takes Part in WZON Hot Stove Baseball Night
Bangor, ME - The Husson University baseball team took a bow Monday night as part of WZON's Hot Zone Baseball Night at the Bangor Civic Center. The event featured Boston Red Sox announcers Dave O'Brien and Joe Castiglione who spoke to the Bangor area crowd about the state of "The Nation." Before the talk was turned to the professional scene, Husson Baseball was honored for taking home the 2011 North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship last spring. Joining representatives of the Eagles were members of the University of Maine baseball team who were celebrating their 2011 America East Conference Championship as well.

Husson Athletics Announces 2010-2011 Athletes of the Year
Bangor, ME – The Husson University athletics department is thrilled to announce this year’s recipients of the inaugural Male and Female Student Athlete of the Year awards. Under the new direction of Athletic Director Bob Reasso, the athletics department will begin to honor a male and female athlete who exemplify what it means to be a Husson Eagle. This year, two women have each separated themselves from the pack and are each deserving candidates of the inaugural female athlete of the year award. Cross Country runner Angela Stauble and 3 sport athlete – Soccer, Basketball and Softball – Amanda Gifford are each the recipients of the 2011 Female Athlete of the Year Award. Kyle Vanidestine, who plays both Football and Baseball at Husson, has been named the 2011 Male Athlete of the Year.
