Bowdoin Blanks Husson
Bowdoin, ME – Bowdoin College extended their undefeated run with a 5-0 victory over Husson University under the lights at Husson's Winkin Complex. Katie Herter (Topsfield, MA) contributed two goals toward the Polar Bears' victory. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 7-5 while the Polar Bears improve to 12-0.
Before the start of the game, Husson honored the many contributions made by seniors Jill Morin, Courtney Allen, Emily Woodbury, Helen Berry, Skye Ellis, Lindsay Barnes, Diann Ramsey, and Caroline Bochtler with a senior day presentation.
Bowdoin reached the scoreboard 9:48 into the first half when Katie Herter (Topsfield, MA) received an assist from Olivia King (Georgetown, MA) off a short corner. Herter tallied her second goal of the day when she received a pass from Ingrid Oslschlager at the top of the circle and scored. With just under nine minutes left in the half, Emily French (Wenham, MA) collected a loose ball off a rebounded shot and put the ball in the net, pushing the Bowdoin lead to 3-0.
In the first half, the Polar Bears outshot the Eagles 20-1 and were awarded eight short corners.
The second half featured an unassisted goal by Jessie Small at the 69:54 marker. Bowdoin's Lauren Schroeder ()Milwaukee, WI) tallied her first collegiate goal late in the second half to extend the Bowdion lead to 5-0.
Husson was able to muster seven shots in the second half but the goals deficit proved too large to overcome. Kristen Capen (Leeds, ME) played an inspired game in goal, making 13 saves for the Eagles, while Bowdion's Kayla Lessard (Enfield, CT) tallied four saves.
The Eagles return to action on October 22 when they travel to NAC rival U. Maine at Farmington for a 3:30 PM game. Bowdoin faces Trinity at home for a 2:00 PM game.
