Husson University fell to the University of Southern Maine 11-3 in the Eagle's home opener at Boucher Field. Dylan Bousquet-Smith led the Huskies with four goals on the day to improve Southern Maine's record to 1-2. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the young season.
Kayle Hamilton got the Huskies on the scoreboard first with a goal less than two minutes into the period. USM would score three additional goals in the first period. The Eagles notched their first goal of the game off a Mitch Heaps score that was assisted by Ethan Pratt.
With a 7-1 halftime lead, the Huskies continued to pull away to earn the 11-3 victory.
Southern Maine's Dylan Bousquet led all scorers with 4 goals and was followed closely by Kayle Hamilton with three. Ben Landry, Ben Potter and Mitch Heaps each contributed a score to the Eagles' effort.
In goal, Husson's John Hooper tallied 9 saves while Kyle Dussault tallied 6 saves.
The Huskies return to when they face Maine Maritime on March 19 at Memorial Field in Portland, ME. Husson will face-off at MIT on Tuesday, March 15 with a 4:30 PM game.
