Huge Second Half Pushes Eagles To Victory

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - The Husson women's soccer team used a four-goal second half to help defeat Sage College 5-0 Saturday afternoon at Skidmore College.

The Eagles got on the board early when Kylan Smith (Presque Isle, ME) collected a rebound off Shelby Bradford's (Lee, ME) shot and put it past the Sage keeper at the 15:15 mark for a 1-0 lead.

Amy Sanz (Tyngsboro, MA) gave Husson a 2-0 lead after she collected her own rebound off of a corner kick and beat the goalie at the 52:59 mark. The Eagles would pull away as they added goals from Megan Clement (Brunswick, ME), Kayleigh Piccirillo (Walpole, NH) and Alexandra Laniewski (Scarborough, ME) within a six minuted period late in the second half.

The Eagles outshot the Gators 26-3.  Jen Plourde (Howland, ME) made one save for the shutout and Sage keeper Brittany McDonald made seven saves in the losing effort.

Both teams return to action Sunday for the final day of the Skidmore Invitational.  Sage will play Westfield State at 11 a.m. and Husson will face off against host Skidmore College at 2 p.m.
